ELPA Hosts Joint Webinar Bringing Together ARTEMIs, GENIAL, and THRIVE Projects

The European Liver Patients’ Association (ELPA) successfully organised a joint webinar bringing together three major EU-funded research initiatives: ARTEMIs, GENIAL, and THRIVE. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration across projects to advance innovation, research, and patient-centred approaches in liver disease.

The webinar provided a unique platform to present the objectives and progress of each project. ARTEMIs focuses on developing “virtual twin” technologies and computational models to support personalised clinical decision-making in liver disease management. Meanwhile, GENIAL explores the genetic and environmental determinants of liver cancer, aiming to improve prevention and early detection strategies. THRIVE complements these efforts by advancing the understanding of liver cancer through cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, multi-omics, and data integration, with the goal of improving diagnosis and treatment outcomes.
By bringing these projects together, the webinar emphasized the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange. Speakers underlined how combining expertise—from computational modelling to clinical research and patient engagement—can accelerate progress and create more effective, patient-centred solutions.

Importantly, ELPA ensured that the patient perspective remained central throughout the discussion. The webinar reinforced the role of patient organisations in bridging the gap between research and real-life impact, ensuring that innovations are not only scientifically robust but also meaningful and accessible to those living with liver disease.

This joint initiative reflects a growing commitment within the European research landscape to work across projects, share knowledge, and maximise impact. Through such collaborative efforts, initiatives like ARTEMIs, GENIAL, and THRIVE are contributing to a more integrated and forward-looking approach to liver health.
